So Cute

The night before Matalley was born, I bawled. It was Grayson's last night as a single child. It's not that I wasn't thrilled to have another baby, but I was surely concerned about what it would mean for him. Something I read equated a child obtaining a sibling to my husband bringing home another wife and telling me, "I love you so much, I thought it would be fun to have another. You can be best friends and share all your clothes." So while pregnant with Lola, it's fitting that I worried about what a third baby would mean for the other two, especially for Matalley. She will forever be known as a middle child. And if you believe in all that stuff about birth order, middle children can be lost in the shuffle and I surely don't want that to be the case with Matalley. She may not be the first to do everything but she will surely do it all with spunk. Tonight we attended her Christmas Program. As I pulled into the parking lot she praised me, "Good job Mom, you found my school in the dark!" Her class had two songs to learn, both with A LOT of words. Every time we get in the car she wants to practice and so we've been listening to Deck the Halls for weeks (Even I can't remember all the versus and I at least understand 'Old English'). Thankfully Matalley had the Fa la la la la part down pretty good.

Yes, that's her voice you hear:) She also had a cute little shimmy and "jazz hands" at the end. And in true middle child fashion, she put the focus on someone else after the program ended. Matt wore a suit to work this morning and Matalley told him he looked cute. Then she recounted saying, "Wait boys aren't cute, you look handsome." After the Christmas program, instead of waiting for praise, she asked Matt, "So, did anyone else tell you you looked handsome?" She was shocked that no one had commented to him. What a cute girl.
