Random thoughts

So a few weeks ago, Lola had some random low-grade fevers. I kept waiting for her to get sick but about a week later I finally noticed that 2 new teeth had appeared from nowhere. I'm now assuming that was the cause of those fevers. Fast forward to this week and she started having similar fevers. I kept feeling the bottom teeth and didn't feel anything. She was acting completely normal but I finally took her in after a very bad sleeping night and turns out she has strep. So the Mommy radar has not been working as well as it should. Lola HATES taking medicine so it takes both Matt and I holding her down and prying her mouth open to get her to take it. You also have to blow in her face and almost gag her or she'll spit it all up. It's fun.

After a few years watching her brother play sports, Matalley has her first basketball game in the morning. She is super excited for the snack that follows the game (she told me that's the only reason she wanted to play). She also takes the coaches instructions to not go out of bounds very seriously...refusing to cross the line to get a drink of water until practice is over.

Today, we finally made our Thanksgiving plate (I hopefully won't be this late making 2012's plate) at a pottery painting place in town. While we were waiting for Grayson to finish up his project, I asked Matalley to name opposites. "Tall and not Tall." "Cold and not Cold" "Asleep and not asleep" You get the idea:)

Last week Grayson traded in his horseman hearts (reward for good behavior in class) to eat lunch in the heartsmart cafe. He told me he was going to ask Justin to join him (you get to pick one friend) but the day of, he chose another little boy in class. I was surprised since the boy he chose is kind of a troublemaker, but Grayson told me that he was the only one in class who had never eaten there. What a thoughtful little man I have!

Matt joined a new firm yesterday. The move allows him to expand what he does to include oil and gas law. I told Grayson that Matt started a new job and Grayson seemed really worried. I told G that Matt was still a lawyer and G got really upset. "I don't want him to be a warrior!" I don't either :)

If I haven't mentioned it before, I think it is really silly that we worry about picked up houses. I spend half of my day cleaning up and asking the kids to help. If you think about all the time I spend getting mad at them for making messes and then realize that when they get older, they are going to spend a lot of time getting mad at their own children for making messes, it just seems like it would be a whole heck of a lot easier to just let everyone make messes. No getting yelled at or yelling at little people in the future. What do you think?

Agree! I like the mess idea. I think we'd all be happier in the end. :) Grayson is a sweet dude. Very thoughtful of him with his lunch invite. Matalley's opposites made me smile!
