Well we finally visited an ENT and all is well with Grayson. We're going to wait a month to see if we need to replace the tubes in his ears. Both tubes have fallen out but the ears have healed. There was a little bit of fluid build up in one of his ears that he is being treated for and if he gets another ear infection before then, we might looking at putting more tubes back in. The doctor was so great with Grayson (and me). He let Grayson climb all over him and ask him a million questions. Grayson is in that stage where he just continues to ask why until you get so exasperated you find something to distract him. Doc just took it. Grayson also kept pretending the little dinosaur he was holding was eating the doctor and the doctor just kept joking with him and teasing him back. In the meantime, he was answering all these questions from me and agreed that it might be too soon to take out the tonsils.
He did suggest that Grayson take a hearing test and that had to be the funniest thing I've experienced to date with my kid. We sat in this little booth, me somewhat behind Grayson. He had these wires in his ears so that he could hear the beeps and what the audiologist was saying. He was supposed to raise his hand when he heard a beep. He'd get so excited when he heard a beep and raise his hand then turn around and give me the thumbs up sign (the audiologist would praise him when he heard a beep so I guess he was just confirming for me that he was in good shape). Then when she said certain words he needed to repeat them. She couldn't say a word over again but Grayson missed something she said, so he said, "what? Hear it louder." I couldn't hear anything she was saying but the reaction from Grayson cracked me up and he seemed like such a big boy. Thankfully Grayson's hearing is all good.
Matalley and I started a music class this week. It's with about 10 other babies her age and their Moms. Matalley loved it. She danced and clapped and interacted with the others by saying "Hi" in her little drawl. She was quite shy at first (burying herself in my arms) but it didn't take her long to warm up. We'll see what she does next week when we arrive. I love that she starts wiggling as soon as she hears music.
Please say some prayers for Matt's grandmother. She's in the hospital with back trouble this week. We love you Mimi!
