We were in Colorado for the weekend and had a fun time exploring both the science museum and the Children's museum (we get in free to both with our local science museum membership...which makes that membership more than worth it). Grayson is INFATUATED with dinosaurs so the science museum offered a healthy dose of exploration. We spent about 4 hours there and had about 15 minutes to quickly run through the space section before having to leave to pick up Yiayia from work. I should have been prepared for the mistake, but I ignored my instincts. First, never quickly try to get through anything with the kids. Two, after 4 hours of walking around a museum, kids get tired. Three, if the kids are in a good mood close to naptime, don't push it by spending 15 more minutes doing anything. Here are my children playing on the moon and then safely trying to land our space ship.

About 2 seconds after this picture, Grayson reached in front of Matalley to push the big red button and knocked Matalley backward in the process. Her little head hit the floor with a bang and she immediately started screaming. I picked her up, told Grayson we needed to go and of course, he immediately started screaming. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to get orange space suits off 2 screaming children by yourself? Then as I raced through the museum trying to remove the screaming children from the echoey foyer, we bump into a woman from Amarillo....seriously what are the odds?!?! Not that I want my children making scenes, but I maintained my pride with the thought that we were safely out of earshot of anyone who knew us.
We also went to the Children's Museum. Here are Grayson and Bompa building a car. Note to self...save trash, give to Grayson with nails and screws, let him go to town with the tools; he LOVES it.

I have more stories about riding around in my Aunt's van with the sliding side door stuck open, watching my brother have way, way, way too good a time at his birthday party, hanging out with my college roomies who both happen to live in CO now,

and watching my kids run around in 40 degree weather in shorts but this post is long enough. Call me if you want more details.
Oh, but one more thing. On the flight back, I ordered a beer from the flight attendant. When she brought it to me, Grayson yells (loud enough for most the cabin to hear), "You're drinking another one?" The stewardess giggled all the way back to the kitchen.

Grayson and Hayley would get along fabulously as Hayley is over the moon about dinosaurs. Although I'm not sure I want Grayson telling Hayley all about his Mom hitting the bottle!! He is too funny! Sounds like one of those trips that makes you want to have one or two more, eh?!
