Two Bits

Some days I think, "I so got this!"  And then on other days I think, "What am I doing?...my children are going to be in therapy forever."  Besides that, they could totally revolt at any minute and I am definitely outnumbered.  I was outnumbered with Grayson...he truly is the better of the match if it comes right down to logic.  So when it came to questions about a fourth child, Matt and I would hmm and haa.  We never said no and we never said yes.  Truth is, we had lots of questions.  I've always wanted an even number but what would a forth mean besides evening the playmates?  Mainly Matt thought about the expense and I thought about shopping at the grocery store.

I went to the grocery store today with just three.  We've been out of town for over a week so it was a big, long trip.  It was one of those trips you watch other mothers have and say, "I would just leave if that were my kids."  I kept thinking, we can just do take-out for the next week...it's not worth it.  My kids won't starve, we have crackers.  Is it illegal to leave them in the car?  The trip entailed fruit on the floor, dog food on the floor (we didn't even buy dog food), tripping (each other and other customers), crying, screaming, complaining (lots of complaining), hitting, running, hopping, jumping (one guy said, "my, do they have ants in their pants?" so you know I'm not exaggerating) and plenty of disappearing acts.  Lola kept taking off her shoes and eating them even though I gave her an unpurchased banana...how do shoes taste better than bananas? (don't answer that Tia).  Grayson decided I am the worst Mom ever and obviously love Matalley the most because I bought her sushi (snack for all of us) and I refused to buy him honeybuns or cupcakes (after we just watched a short documentary on processed foods!!).  I got home and wanted a nap and I NEVER nap.  They just plum wore me out and I thought, "Oh no, what am I going to do when there are four?"  Yes folks, four.  I am making the official blogspot announcement...I am still in shock/excitement?  YES, but  mostly terrified!  It wasn't that long ago that I joined the crazy families of three.  What do they say about families of four?  Do you ever see the parents again?

We saw "2bits" heartbeat a couple weeks ago and all looks good.  He/She is due in January so we have a little bit of time to wrap our heads around this but hope you will all join in our excitement (not trepidation).  Please don't ask, "wow, was it a surprise?" Because even though we are in shock and possibly a little crazy, it was what we ultimately decided we wanted.  When making our decision, even with college and wedding costs on our mind and the thought of vacation hotel rooms, dinners out, and bedroom space, we knew that if we didn't have 4th, there was the possibility of regret.  Having a 4th, there is certainty that there will be no regret.

Tia just might opt for a banana instead of a shoe....but it would be a hard, hard choice.
