Quick Trip

With Matt behind on so many hours at work, the kids and I decided to go to Denver for a few days to let him have some quiet at home to catch up.  Plus we haven't seen the cousins/aunts/uncles since July (they were missing during our trip in August) and Mom mentioned this sample sale at the merchandise mart in Denver where they make room for new products and I've always wanted to check it out.

We arrived just in time for ice cream before bed
Our weekend in Denver was beautiful, albeit short.  We had playtime Sunday morning in a very spacious family room that is being painted so there isn't anything to get in the way!

We used our old Extra Large Tinkertoys (or whatever these pipe things are) to build a wagon.
But Ellie didn't want to ride

We were able to visit the Littleton Historic Museum set in the 1860's...the kids saw cellar in the hill that they thought was way cool.
Then it was time for the Broncos and a grandkid Christmas card photo shoot that was a little bit of a bust.

My kids like to wrestle amongst the boxes that still need unpacked...good thing the basement is so big!
Bompa watched the kids while Mom and I went to the mart Monday before I took off back to Amarillo that afternoon.  The drive is just 6 hours now, with one half hour stop to gas up and use the restrooms.  It still makes for a long day but so nice to be able to drive since flights cost way too much for a family of 6.
