Ohio Vacation

A couple weeks ago, we flew out to Ohio with Bompa and YiaYia. Bompa tells lots of fun stories about growing up there. One of which includes happenings at the Canfield County Fair and a trip he took when he was 5 to Storybook Forest, so we decided to see both for ourselves. And boy did we pack it in. We had a full day at the fair, including the kids first taste of fresh french fries with vinegar and salt(my favorite!). The next day included a trip to the Rogers' Sale (weekly flea market in Rogers, OH) and Amish Country. We ate at a wonderful dutch restaurant where the kids just wanted the salad bar (like their Mommy) and so we had pickled beets, cucumber salad, ham salad, 3 bean salad, etc....YUMMY!) The following day was a full day Storybook forest and an amusement park. Then we had one last day to swim and visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame before heading home. Below are some pictures but not near as many as there should be. I didn't get any of Uncle Jim, Uncle Todd, or Aunt Shirley but it was sure good to see them.

Funny stories from the trip:
  • The kids rode their first big rollercoaster and LOVED it. Everytime we go down a big hill in the car, Matalley raises her arms above her head and says, "woohoo!"
  • Grayson was so excited to meet Snow White at Storybook forest. Afterward though, he said, "it wasn't the real Snow White, but she was pretty."
  • One night as we were getting into the car after dinner, Matalley realized she left a hat, she received from the waitress, inside the restaurant. Sandy offered to go back and get it which made Matalley very happy. We got on our way and I thought both she and Grayson were asleep. Then about 10 minutes later, she realized she'd left the stickers that were supposed to go on the hat at the restaurant as well. She said, "OH MAN, I left my stickers!"
  • When Matalley was really hungry, she would say, "I want wemonwade and macaroni."
