What do you get when you drive 4 hours West of Amarillo? Trees and hyper kids. We experienced family camp with our church for the first time this past weekend. Going up the mountain, Grayson couldn't get over all the trees...made this Colorado girl sad that we live in a place where the kids think trees are a novelty. He also was very confused on why New Mexicans speak English. We got in late Friday night and the kids would not calm down. They especially loved the bunk beds. Grayson wrote in his journal "I think this is cool that I am in a bunk bed." They finally fell asleep about midnight and were up with the sunrise. We were assigned the color violet so we attempted to "man-up" the color with tie dye and the superman symbol. We went on hikes,
worked through our ropes course fears (both kids did the rock wall...Grayson made it to the very top but psyched himself out of going down the zip line...very proud of their efforts!).
played wacky family Olympics,
(Matalley was our toilet paper mummy...we won this one!)
I was so close to surprising Matt with a whipped cream pie in his face...instead he knocked it on me.
Grayson had to take off his shoes to get marbles with his toes in a bucket of ice (not my fave game)
and just enjoyed our family time while hearing good ways to work through conflict and singing praise music.
We are exhausted and happy.
