Another One Bites the Dust

The end of football and soccer and cheerleading was a really good day or at least a really good day until this happened...

We are going to be best friends with our Ortho if we see him 5 months out of the year again next year (Grayson, Millie, and now Lola). She'll be in the cast above for 6 weeks and the wheelchair for 8. She's taking it like a champ though...such a great patient. Matalley is quick to point out that she has never broken a bone but she get's the flu every year so maybe it's a trade off. I'm hoping Lola's bones are rebuilding at a super strength rate so that she doesn't have to worry about this again.

The incident happened at the Pumpkin Patch with our church friends. Thankfully one of our friends is an ER doctor and gave us good guidance. It was sad as we had only been at the patch for 10 minutes and the jumping pillow was our first activity. It's a trampoline fracture...the weight of one kid is more than the weight of Lola and therefore when jumping next to each other, Lola absorbs the shock of the other kids' jump and it split the top of her tibia.

We stuck around while Matt took Lola to the ER. I think I was in shock that my kids' have such terrible luck. Just when you think you are going to have some free time, life throws you a curve ball. The end of cheerleading season was good for me...I'm glad to be done with coaching even if the cheerleaders were cute.

And then the subs were cute too
We cheered for an awesome football team (that was by design and the only reason I agreed to coach in the first place).
The end of soccer season was a pretty good deal too. Lola is a go-getter, played entire games without taking a break due to the fact that our team had some weak links and she was an awesome goalie, but it would have been sad to coach a team that she couldn't partake in because of a broken leg. The season ended just in time.

While Lola was getting her cast, we were eating popcorn
And playing in the corn kernels
 And on the bouncy balls
 And in the wagons
And sliding
And wishing Lola was with us
There are so many blessings to count even when you are bummed about a wheelchair and I know this next season will pass quickly.
